A Dream Within a Dream: The Syk

The Syk is a photographic response to the rock formations of Petra and Wadi Rum where I felt profoundly how they are suffused with the antiquity of geologies and human histories, the whispers of the past rising up with the dust. Using photogravure and chine collé I build layers that maintain the recognizable landscape while conjuring both natural and man-made phantasms.

The image titles are from "The Hand of Stone Draws the Place" by the Syrian poet Adonis.
